First Day of School!!!

Syndel was so excited for her first day of school she could hardly stand it. She is in kindergarden now and I am excited for her to learn and make school friends. She loves it. Nicholas is in pre-school twice a week now it is crazy driving them both around but fun to have them have new experiences.

Xander thinks he is going to school too.

Brandis said...: I can't believe how much all of our kids have grown up already! I remember when Syndel was just an itty-bitty little girl riding around on Justin's shoulders and now our babies are in kindergarten! I guess time really does fly when you're having fun. :); 8/31/08 2:10 PM

About Justin & Kayla (how we met and our engagement)

We met at a singles ward Halloween party in 1995 a long long time ago :) Needless to say we hit it off right away but we were in no hurry to make any speedy commitments. I had just turned 18 and he was 23 so my parents weren't too thrilled of our dating. We continued to date for 4 years, it was time well spent. There's a lots of fine print that makes up for that 4 year span, but we will just fast forward a bit. Justin and I were dating long distance toward the end of our 4 year stretch and he invited me up to New Mexico where he was living at the time. He had a bunch of things planned to celebrate my "Birthday". He took me to the Durango, CO train station. We rode the train and got off at Needleton, CO to go hiking and it was so beautiful. We were trying to find a spot to eat lunch and Justin was so insistent on finding the perfect spot, which I thought was a little funny, so it took us a while. The spot that he picked was perfect and it was next to a running stream so we ate lunch and hung out. While we were getting ready to head back he started to get all serious. He got down on one knee and started to reach in his pocket and just as he started to open the box I started laughing but then I saw that there was a ring inside. The funny thing about that is because we had dated for so long he had made a joke out of asking me to marry him and he had played some tricks on me so I thought this was just another trick until I saw the ring inside. The only bad thing was that because of Justin's teasing personality he shut the box and started to put it back in his pocket acting upset because I was laughing. I freaked out and just kept saying "yes". I was so excited it was the most exciting day of my life. We started to hike back to the train and kept passing other hikers and I was so excited and out in the middle of nowhere, I just wanted to tell someone so I wanted to tell every hiker we saw on our way out. Surprisingly I managed to keep it a secret from all of the family members till I got back home. The first thing my dad said was "he didn't ask my permission!" If you know Justin he is not one to let anyone get in his way if he wants to do something. They were excited for me though. We had a 6 month engagement; I wanted plenty of time to plan my perfect wedding. My dress alone took 5 months to order so that worked out. But it has been a wild ride and we are excited about our dreams and goals that we have set for us and our family.
